Welcome to the Fairtrade Carleton Wiki Wiki Web!

June 4, 2007

Hey Friends, so there has been some recent movement in regards to Fairtrade Carleton and the Alternative Consumption Guide. Proposals have been made to make the guide the focus of this now more rarely used website and broaden the idea of fairtrade to be more about primarily consuming less, and then ethically. Ideas include updating the guide, developing a rating system and criteria for things in the guide, revamping the website, making a map of the physical locations etc. Anyway meetings are in the mix, and if you would like to get involved. Send me (Allan) an email @ offthegrids@gmail.com.

Fairtrade Carleton is a (mostly) student group based at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada), sponsored by Oxfam, CUSA and OPIRG Carleton that works to further the cause of Fairtrade in Carleton and in the greater Ottawa area.

We organise fun fairtrade promotional events, distribute information, contact local businesses, arrange seminars and speakers, and with this website we are creating a guide to alternative consumption for the Ottawa area. We are loosely arranged into four working groups (see the menu on the left).

For an introduction to Fairtrade see the What is Fairtrade? page.
